Here’s a phrase I’m betting you haven’t heard in over 30 years: “Hey, there’s a new Pablo Cruise album out!”  Well, there IS.  The group (there is NO person named Pablo) released “It’s Good To Be Live” yesterday.  As the title suggests, it is live.  And, it features all of the group’s biggest hits from back in the day – only recorded in 2011.  And, they still got it!!!  Here’s one of the tracks:

It was recorded at a show in northern California last year. It features three of the four original members. Bassist Bud Cockrell died last year. Part of the reason they decided to get back together: Will Farrell. He wore a Pablo Cruise baseball jersey in the 2008 movie "Step Brothers," which generated new interest in the band.

Back in the 1970s, the California-based pop band Pablo Cruise broke Elvis Presley's record at the Sahara Tahoe and became one of the first non-country bands to play on the Grand Ole Opry. Actor Will Farrell wore their T-shirt in the movie comedy Step Brothers. And you surely heard their sunny hit singles "A Place in the Sun," "What'cha Gonna Do?" and "Love Will Find a Way" all over the radio. Now reunited, they're celebrating their career with this 17-track set of their original greatest hits, plus two newly re-recorded versions, and an in-concert DVD from 2010.
